Hays is partnering with one of the State Governments and seeking an experienced Web Application Developer with DXP or CMS experience. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimising large‑scale digital experiences across web, mobile, and multi‑channel environments.
Your new role
The Web Application Developer is required to build a high‑quality web application that is secure, preformant, and intuitive. The role combines technical expertise with problem‑solving, collaboration, and a strong understanding of user experience. The developer works closely with the Web and Application Support Specialist, Project Manager, Business Analyst and other stakeholders to deliver features from concept to deployment.
What you'll need to succeed
- Excellent experience in development and maintenance of web applications using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, DOM Manipulation, jQuery, Google Maps.
- Proficient in dynamically generating HTML using JavaScript and DOM manipulation, Experience manipulating the DOM to create, update, and remove UI elements programmatically
- Strong understanding of browser DOM, events, and rendering behaviour.
- Good working experience with Google Maps, Polygons, Info Windows, GeoJson, Google place library.
- Excellent understanding of UI/UX and translate UI/UX designs into responsive, accessible, and interactive user interfaces.
- Excellent skills in responsive web pages using media queries and css.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
- Good understanding of RESTful APIs, JSON, XML and web services.
- Ability to optimise application performance, including load times, scalability, and browser compatibility.
- Must have knowledge of version control, especially Git, Code reviews, and testing.
- Ability to write clean, modular, testable code.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good to have experience with CMS or DXP platforms.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve bugs and address production incidents.
- Implement secure coding practices to protect sensitive data and prevent vulnerabilities.
Desirable
- Familiarity with server-side technologies and databases (SQL or NoSQL).
Qualification
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
