APS6 Site Security Observers

Opportunity for a Construction/Security professional with NV1 to join Federal Government Department

Your new company

Large, high-profile Federal Government Department who are at the forefront of promoting and protecting Australia’s international interests. They are currently seeking multiple Site Security Observers to oversee and observe construction workers and others on site on projects domestically and overseas.

Your new role

Reporting directly to a Site Security Manager (SSM), you will provide on-the-ground security oversight across active construction sites. Working as part of a highly coordinated operational team, you will support the delivery of construction security objectives by monitoring activities, verifying compliance, and ensuring adherence to approved security controls. Work on an as-needed labour hire basis, aligned to project demand and therefore may be non-continuous.

Your key responsibilities will include:
  • Observing personnel movements and activities within designated construction zones
  • Monitoring construction works for compliance with approved Construction Security Plans (CSP)
  • Inspecting materials, tools, and equipment entering the site, identifying any non-compliance or risk
  • Operating site-based technical security systems including CCTV, alarms, and access control
  • Identifying, escalating, and reporting security risks or incidents in line with department protocols
  • Maintaining accurate logs, records, and reporting documentation
  • Working within a defined chain of command and contributing to a disciplined team environment

What you'll need to succeed

  • Relevant Security and construction experience, particularly in high-security environments.
  • Experience in security, construction, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience working in security-sensitive or controlled environments
  • Strong observational, reporting, and record-keeping skills with high attention to detail
  • The ability to work both autonomously and within a multi-person operational team
  • Physical capability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30kg
  • Sound judgement, professionalism, and the ability to operate with minimal supervision
  • Familiarity with WHS principles and construction site safety practices
  • Exposure to, or experience with, security systems such as CCTV and access control
Mandatory certifications (required prior to commencement)
  • White Card (Construction Induction Training)
  • Working Safely at Heights
  • Working in Confined Spaces
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Prevent Crystalline Silica Exposure
