A large Federal Government Department at the forefront of protecting Australia’s national security interests is seeking an APS5/6 Personnel Security Vetting Officer, initially to be engaged on a 12-month Labour Hire contract.

Your new role

This is an opportunity to contribute by ensuring the integrity of personnel within one of the country's most significant departments.
  • Conduct security vetting assessments in line with the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) and department procedures.
  • Utilise department systems and case management tools to manage clearance cases.
  • Provide clear, well-reasoned advice on clearance outcomes and respond constructively to feedback.
  • Undertake complex assessments and produce high-quality documentation.
  • Manage a Quality Assurance (QA) caseload, including collaboration with external service providers.
  • Prioritise and manage a high volume of work within tight deadlines.
  • Support administrative functions such as inbox management and change of circumstance assessments.
  • Work from an office-based location.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Demonstrated experience in a similar security-focussed role in a government environment
  • Knowledge of the PSPF, AGSVA Process and systems
  • Well-developed communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and effectively manage competing priorities
  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships, including with colleagues, customers and stakeholders at all levels.
  • Maintains a professional approach and high level of confidentiality.
  • Certificate IV in Government (Personnel Security)
  • You must be an Australian Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain government Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Clearance.
