Hays Recruitment are partnering with a Queensland Government department to recruit an AO4 Program Officer (Procurement). This is an excellent opportunity to join a collaborative team within the North Queensland Region, supporting the delivery of procurement and contract management activities that contribute to important infrastructure, operational, and regional programs.

Your new role

As the AO4 Program Officer (Procurement), you will provide high-level procurement support services to contract managers, project managers, program managers, and team members. Working within a fast-paced environment, you will utilise a range of information management systems, databases, and software applications to support the timely and effective delivery of procurement activities across the region.

In this role, you will:
  • Interpret and apply financial and procurement policies, procedures, and legislative requirements to support compliant procurement outcomes.
  • Deliver assigned procurement activities and provide accurate advice and information in accordance with departmental procurement frameworks and governance requirements
  • Assist in the development and implementation of local work practices to meet business needs while ensuring compliance obligations are maintained
  • Identify and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement and financial processes
  • Provide accurate and professional advice and support to stakeholders regarding end-to-end procurement activities, including contract administration and contract management
  • Monitor and review procurement activities, including procurement documentation, evaluation processes, supplier engagement and negotiation activities, and contract documentation.
  • Liaise, negotiate, and communicate with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders regarding procurement processes, procedures, delegations, and compliance requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will bring demonstrated procurement support experience, strong stakeholder engagement capabilities, and a proactive approach to delivering quality outcomes in a governance-focused environment.

You will have:
  • Experience working in a procurement, contract administration, finance, or business support environment
  • Sound knowledge of procurement policies, procedures, and governance requirements
  • Experience supporting end-to-end procurement activities, including procurement documentation and contract administration
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide professional advice to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience working collaboratively with team members and stakeholders to resolve issues and achieve positive outcomes
  • High attention to detail, particularly in relation to data validation, reporting accuracy, and compliance obligations
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software applications, databases, and information management systems
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a focus on delivering practical solutions
