You will be joining a well-established Queensland Government organisation dedicated to delivering accurate and efficient public services. In this role, you will contribute to payroll operations for a large and diverse workforce, working within a fast-paced and dynamic business area. Depending on your level, you will either provide complex payroll and control services or support the supervision of a team responsible for delivering end-to-end payroll processing.
Your new role
As a Payroll Officer, you will play a key role in delivering accurate and timely payroll services, either independently or by supporting the supervision of a payroll team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing specialist payroll processing, advice, and support to ensure accuracy and timeliness
- Supporting the delivery of best practice payroll services through effective workload management, performance monitoring, and adherence to internal controls
- Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement process improvements
- Communicating clearly and professionally with employees, management, and customers to resolve payroll-related queries
What you'll need to succeed
- Demonstrated experience delivering accurate and timely payroll processing services within a complex environment
- Strong understanding of payroll legislation, policies, and procedures, with the ability to apply these in practice
- Ability to manage competing priorities, monitor workloads, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced setting
- Proven capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-focused environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality, compliant outcomes
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to liaise confidently with employees, management, and external stakeholders
- A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to identify process improvements and contribute to service enhancements
What you'll get in return
- A contract engagement from 15th June 2026 to 30th June 2027
- Competitive hourly rate of $60.06 p/h + Super
