Hays are pleased to partner with a government department. They currently require a high-performing and innovative AO3 Operations Officer to join their small and close-knit team on a part-time (15 hours a week) direct casual contract, based in Cairns CBD.
Your new role
As the Operations Officer, you will utilise a broad range of computer software programs and information management systems databases to provide high level support services to project managers and/or team members which enhance the timely and effective delivery of project/s, ensuring compliance with appropriate legislation, organisational policies and procedures.
Manage high volume calls
Continually monitor in real time the road network to identify operational issues and information for public broadcasting.
Review, prepare and deliver planned and unplanned up-to-date traffic information via live traffic report broadcasts to radio stations.
Within a designated area of responsibility, they evaluate, prioritise and coordinate responses to traffic incidents, telephone calls, ITS equipment failures and maintenance issues in association with key internal and external stakeholders, including contracted service providers, police, and the media.
Maintain thorough and accurate records of all events and activities encountered during a shift, including populating the major incidents database for prompt distribution to key stakeholders, and maintaining the traffic disruption database to ensure adherence to legislative acts and regulations
What you'll need to succeed
We are seeking an insightful individual, who welcomes challenges in the delivery of work and demonstrates persistence in working through obstacles. You will have strong communications skills with the ability to build relationships, and a professional phone manner. A strong administration background is a must. Computer savvy with confident experience using Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and is able to pick up software/databases quickly.
You will have a calm temperament, work well in high pressure situations, have strong decision-making skills and demonstrate judgement about when to escalate issues. You work in a small team, so responding constructively to periods of uncertainty by role modelling positivity and work focus is a must.
What you'll get in return
