Your new company

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive AO3 Administration Officer with strong rostering skills, to join a team within the Queensland Government on a temporary 3-month contract in Townsville, with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate will provide high-quality rostering and other general administrative services to Centre staff that will facilitate the management, care and supervision of young people.

Your new role

  • Develop and maintain rosters to meet operational needs that are in accordance with award provisions and other associated industrial instruments, preferably within a 24/7 operating environment.
  • Process staffing variations and overview overtime approvals in consultation with relevant managers as appropriate.
  • Liaise on a regular basis with the Administration Officer (Payroll) and Managers to ensure that all rostering and staff movements are captured and reflected correctly on the HR Payroll system.
  • Develop and maintain positive communication links with all levels of employees within the centre.
  • Provide informed and accurate advice and support to managers and staff on all rosters, leave, employee entitlement and other associated issues.
  • Provide administrative support including input of data into various computer-based systems, including data entry for rosters.
  • Develop and maintain accurate recording systems and reports to identify staffing trends and provide advice on these matters to relevant line management.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding human resource information.

What you'll need to succeed

This is a busy role in a fast-paced environment; there will be constant interruptions, so effective time management and a strong attention to detail are a must. You will be rostering a workforce on a 24-hour rotational basis, so there will be communication coming from many different sources. Previous experience in this setting would be ideal.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to overcoming challenges.
  • Holds a valid Working with Children Blue Card, ensuring compliance with child safety standards.
  • Proven experience in rostering within a 24/7 operational environment, with a solid understanding of scheduling complexities and workforce management.
  • Recognised for a positive attitude, strong collaboration skills, and being a reliable team player.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and MS Office Suite at an intermediate to advanced level, with the ability to streamline processes and manage data effectively.
