This is an opportunity for a Payroll Officer to join a well-established Queensland Government Department responsible for supporting members of the community. Your new role
As a Payroll Officer, you will play a key part in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and associated personnel administration within a busy operational environment. You will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to maintain payroll integrity, support rostering activities, and deliver a high level of customer-focused service.
- Process and validate fortnightly payroll changes and maintain accurate personnel records
- Manage shift worker timesheet variations in rostering systems, including overtime and leave approvals
- Liaise with supervisors to ensure approvals are accurate and up to date
- Maintain strong knowledge of relevant legislation, awards, agreements, and employment policies
- Build effective working relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders to support information flow
- Work closely with rostering and management teams to ensure accurate system updates in payroll/HR systems.
- Respond to payroll queries with a problem-solving, customer-focused approach
- Develop and maintain reporting to identify staffing trends and support decision-making
- Use payroll/HR systems and supporting applications (e.g. Excel, Access) effectively
- Ensure confidentiality and compliance when handling employee records and information
