The team operates within a complex regulatory environment and is focused on strengthening governance, supporting policy delivery, and driving continuous improvement across its functions.
Your new role
As a Policy Officer (APS5), you will join a collaborative policy and legislative team, providing support across governance and legislative functions within a nationally important regulatory program.
Working closely with and reporting to an EL1, you will assist in delivering policy advice, supporting legislative processes, and responding to enquiries relating to governance, policy, and the relevant legislative framework. You will contribute to the preparation of advice, instructions, and reporting, while also supporting business improvement initiatives and uplift activities across the team.

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- Experience or exposure to policy, governance, legislation, or regulatory environments
- The ability to interpret and apply legislation or policy frameworks with guidance
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage tasks, maintain records, and support reporting requirements
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- A collaborative approach and ability to work effectively within a team
- Initiative, adaptability, and willingness to learn
Highly regarded:
- Legal background (including experience as a practising lawyer or in legislative development)
- Previous experience in a government or public sector environment
- Experience in regulatory policy, compliance, or administration
- Exposure to governance support activities
