Hays is currently recruiting for an experienced Operational Technology (OT) Network Engineer to join a large-scale mining operation on an initial 6-month contract. This site-based role operates on a 4:3 FIFO roster, offering the opportunity to work within a highly technical and critical OT environment.

Your new role

You will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing operational network infrastructure, supporting essential site systems and ensuring high availability across industrial technologies.

Key Responsibilities
Design, scope, and implement network and firewall modifications
Configure network hardware and field devices
Troubleshoot and resolve complex network incidents
Conduct audits of network topology, configurations, and IP registers
Maintain and update detailed technical documentation, including network diagrams and procedures
Support planning and cost estimation for network equipment and upgrades
Ensure compliance with strict site-based change management processes.

What you'll need to succeed

Demonstrated experience in OT or industrial network engineering
Strong knowledge of industrial wireless technologies (Cisco, Motorola, Moxa)
Experience with private LTE networks and associated equipment
Hands-on expertise with industrial routing and switching (Cisco, Moxa, Hirschmann, Allen-Bradley)
Experience with microwave backhaul and point-to-multipoint wireless systems (Aviat, Cambium, Ubiquiti)
Exposure to fibre optic networks and Ethernet-over-Coax infrastructure
Prior experience in mining or heavy industrial environments is highly regarded.
Familiarity with SCADA systems advantageous.
