Your new role
As an EL1 Business Analyst, you will play a key role in a significant whole-of-government transformation program focused on transitioning away from legacy cheque payments in line with mandated deadlines. This is a critical initiative with broad impact, requiring careful planning to ensure seamless service continuity.
Working within a high-performing, multidisciplinary delivery team, you will:
Lead and facilitate workshops to elicit and define business requirements supporting the removal of cheque payment functionality
Analyze current-state payment processes, systems, and use cases, and define future-state business needs
Develop high-quality artefacts including detailed business requirement specifications, process maps, and user stories
Work closely with business, policy, and technical stakeholders to ensure alignment on requirements and solution outcomes
Support delivery across system changes impacting payment platforms and associated ICT systems
Contribute to testing activities, including UAT, and support implementation planning
Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to continuous transformation initiatives
What you'll need to succeed
You are an experienced Business Analyst who thrives in complex, enterprise environments and can confidently navigate large-scale transformation programs.
You will bring:
Proven experience (5+ years) as a Business Analyst within large organizations or government environments
Strong experience eliciting and documenting detailed business and system requirements
Demonstrated capability facilitating stakeholder workshops and driving consensus across diverse groups
Experience analyzing and mapping complex business processes, particularly within payments, finance, or service delivery domains
Ability to translate business problems into clear, actionable insights and solutions
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including working with senior stakeholders
Exposure to payment systems, financial processes, or large-scale service delivery environments (highly regarded)
