Your new role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated Accounts Officer to join a small, high-performing finance team in a newly created hands-on role.
Reporting to the CFO, this role combines core accounting responsibilities including playing a key role in month-end reporting, compliance, reconciliations and process improvement initiatives, while working closely with stakeholders across the broader Group. This role will suit someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and eager to contribute to the continued growth and success of the Accounting function.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Receivable processing, reconciliation and management
- Assist with Accounts Payable invoice processing and supplier reconciliations
- Daily banking transactions, review and processing including complete bank reconciliations and maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial data.
- Assist with management of company credit card facilities
- Updating and maintaining spreadsheets
- Preparing monthly reporting
- Manage financial activities for relevant trading entities, including month-end and year-end processes, financial reporting
- Process end-of-month journals, including recurring journals and balance sheet reconciliations
- Prepare BAS and other annual compliance returns
- Work collaboratively in the Accounting Team to resolve discrepancies and improve processes
- Contribute to business improvement initiatives and support the ongoing development of systems and financial processes
- Maintaining accurate bookkeeping records using Xero
- Providing general administrative support including emails, phone enquiries and document preparation
- Project support
What you'll need to succeed
- 3+ years’ experience across Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bookkeeping or similar
- Experience using MYOB and/or Xero
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Demonstrated experience and solid knowledge of accounting principles and practices
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
- A proactive, team-focused approach with the ability to work autonomously
- Construction or building industry experience (desirable, not essential)
