Your new role
As a Senior Solicitor – Regulatory, you will provide strategic, high-quality legal advice across a broad range of regulatory and compliance matters. Reporting into senior leadership, you will also lead key legal and compliance projects and contribute to organisational decision-making at the highest levels.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing authoritative legal advice on regulatory, compliance and administrative law matters
- Drafting and reviewing regulatory instruments, including notices, directions and enforcement tools
- Interpreting and applying complex legislation, regulations and standards
- Advising on governance, privacy, data security and regulatory powers
- Managing litigation and administrative review matters, including tribunal proceedings
- Leading cross-functional legal and compliance projects
- Briefing senior stakeholders and engaging with external counsel
- Delivering training and mentoring junior team members
This is a permanent, full-time role based in Melbourne CBD.
What you'll need to succeed
You are an experienced legal professional with a strong foundation in regulatory law and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
You will bring:
- Admission to practice as an Australian Lawyer with a current (or eligible) Victorian Practising Certificate
- Significant experience in private practice, in-house or within a regulatory environment
- Strong expertise across administrative law, compliance and regulatory frameworks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical advice
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and complex matters independently
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including experience working with senior leaders and external advisors
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Desirable:
- Experience within government or regulatory environments
- Exposure to safety, compliance, privacy or FOI legislation
- Experience with tribunal matters or regulatory enforcement
- Experience improving legal processes or compliance frameworks
