A state government body is seeking an experienced Senior Assessment Officer (Buildings) to lead a targeted building inspection and condition assessment programme across a portfolio of critical public assets.
This role sits at the intersection of asset management, facilities, and commercial operations, with a focus on ensuring buildings are safe, compliant, and fit-for-purpose. You will play a key role in assessing priority sites, coordinating inspections, and supporting the engagement of external engineering consultants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver a building inspection programme across a diverse asset portfolio
  • Undertake and oversee building condition assessments, identifying risks and life cycle requirements.
  • Coordinate and support the procurement and management of engineering consultants for detailed inspections
  • Provide technical advice, reporting and recommendations to inform asset planning and investment decisions
  • Work collaboratively across internal teams including facilities, leasing, and operational stakeholders.
  • Ensure inspection outcomes and asset data are accurately captured and maintained within asset management systems
  • Contribute to the development of asset monitoring programmes and compliance activities
  • Support risk identification and ensure buildings meet safety and serviceability standards in line with asset frameworks.

Key Selection Criteria
  • Demonstrated experience in asset management, infrastructure, or facilities management
  • Proven experience delivering building inspections and condition assessments
  • Experience working with asset life cycle management principles and maintenance planning
  • Relevant qualifications in engineering, building, asset management or similar (highly desirable)
  • Strong ability to assess building conditions and provide clear, evidence-based recommendations
  • Experience supporting or managing contractors and external consultants
  • Understanding of asset management frameworks, compliance and risk management
  • Proven ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with internal teams and external providers
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including technical reporting
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within tight timeframes
  • Demonstrated initiative in identifying issues and implementing practical, fit-for-purpose solutions.
