Executive Business Change / Process Improvement Lead

Seeking an experienced Executive-level candidate with relative experience at CIO-level or equivalent

Your new company

This organisation is one of Australia’s most significant enterprises, operating a diverse and commercially complex portfolio across aviation, property, leasing and large‑scale assets. They are highly operationally mature, the business is entering a critical phase of optimisation and evolution — focused on improving enterprise efficiency, modernising delivery practices, and lifting organisational capability to support long‑term, sustained growth.

The Enterprise technology has recently undergone a period of major investment. The next chapter is about value realisation, adoption and sustainable business change — and this role has been created to lead that journey at an executive level.

Your new role

This is a senior executive opportunity for an accomplished Organisational Change and Process Improvement Leader with strong CIO‑level credibility. Reporting directly to the CEO and operating as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team, you will be accountable for driving enterprise‑wide optimisation of systems, processes and ways of working. While the remit includes responsibility for technology strategy and delivery, the true mandate of the role is business transformation — aligning people, process and platforms to deliver measurable commercial and operational outcomes.

You will inherit a complex environment with long‑established practices, a core enterprise platform recently implemented, and a predominantly outsourced IT operating model. Your challenge will be to influence, standardise and uplift — embedding contemporary delivery models, improving stakeholder confidence, and repositioning technology from a service function into a genuine strategic partner. This role is ideal for a seasoned executive who thrives in ambiguous, asset‑heavy environments and who brings both the authority and pragmatism required to lead sustained organisational change.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will likely bring:

  • Executive‑level experience leading enterprise IT, digital, or large‑scale business transformation portfolios

  • A proven track record of organisational change and business process improvement in complex, operationally mature environments

  • Strong influencing capability with senior, and at times resistant, stakeholder groups

  • Experience optimising ERP or enterprise platforms to drive real business value (rather than technology for technology’s sake)

  • Commercial and financial acumen, including vendor, contract and investment management

  • The ability to translate strategy into pragmatic, executable roadmaps with clear outcomes

  • A collaborative but confident leadership style, with the presence to challenge legacy practices constructively

  • Experience in infrastructure, property, aviation, utilities or similarly regulated sectors will be highly regarded.

What you'll get in return

In return, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Step into a genuine enterprise change role with executive sponsorship and mandate

  • Shape the future operating model of a nationally significant asset‑based organisation

  • Influence at the highest level and leave a lasting organisational legacy

  • Work in a Canberra‑based executive position offering stability, complexity and impact

  • Be rewarded with a highly competitive executive remuneration package

This is a rare opportunity to take on a role where outcomes matter more than optics, and where your ability to align people, process and systems will directly shape the organisation’s future.

What you need to do now

If you’re an executive leader ready to drive meaningful, enterprise‑wide change — or if you’d like a confidential discussion about whether this role aligns with your experience , please email Michael.Minns@hays.com.au to organise a conversation to delve further into the opportunity.
