A large federal government organisation with an international focus is seeking an experienced Program Management Officer to support the delivery of education and development initiatives across the Indo‑Pacific. This organisation works collaboratively with domestic and international partners to deliver high‑quality, evidence‑based programs that contribute to long‑term development outcomes.
Your New Role
As a Program Management Officer (APS 5–6 equivalent), you will support the design, implementation and monitoring of education-focused development programs. Working closely with geographic teams, posts and external partners, you will provide practical program management support, coordinate technical and analytical inputs, and contribute to evidence‑informed decision‑making.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the planning, delivery and monitoring of education and development programs, including budgets, risk management and performance reporting
- Managing contracts and service agreements, ensuring compliance, value for money and timely delivery of outputs
- Coordinating research, learning and analytical activities, including governance, quality assurance and dissemination of findings
- Preparing clear, timely briefs, correspondence and reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Supporting stakeholder engagement across government, research organisations, multilaterals and implementing partners
- Contributing to knowledge management and capability‑building activities, including maintaining online resources and producing communication products
- Assisting with procurement and grant processes, including tender documentation and contract variations
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Experience in program or project management within a development, policy or government environment
- An understanding of international development and aid programming, ideally in the Indo‑Pacific (or the ability to build this knowledge quickly)
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a service‑oriented team
- Experience managing contracts, procurement processes and supplier deliverables
- Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing briefs and reports for diverse audiences
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to translate evidence into practical advice
- The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to deadlines
- The ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance
