This organisation is an independent government body responsible for providing advice on higher education pricing and funding. It plays a critical role in shaping national policy frameworks and pricing models to support the delivery of quality tertiary education.

Your new role

As the APS6 Pricing Economist / Policy Officer, you will support the development of pricing frameworks and contribute to evidence-based advice to government on higher education funding. Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the development of pricing approaches for funding
  • Conducting economic, financial and data analysis to inform pricing policy advice
  • Preparing high-quality briefings, reports and presentations for senior executives
  • Reviewing existing pricing methodologies and contributing to improved models
  • Engaging with external suppliers/providers, state and territory governments, and stakeholders
  • Assisting in the development of policy options through research and analysis

What you'll need to succeed

  • Baseline security clearance
  • Experience in pricing regulation, funding policy, or economic analysis (public sector preferred)
  • Strong analytical capability, including interpreting complex data and providing policy insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing executive-level advice
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Proven stakeholder engagement skills and collaborative working style
  • Understanding of government processes and policy development
  • Tertiary qualifications in economics, econometrics or public policy (desirable)
