The organisation
A respected Canberra based law firm with a long standing reputation in the ACT market is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Property Lawyer to join its established and growing property practice.
This is an opportunity for a confident and commercially minded practitioner who enjoys working closely with clients, leading transactions autonomously, and contributing to the strategic growth of a well regarded local firm.

The opportunity
You will join a collaborative, partner led property team advising a diverse client base across Canberra and the broader region. The practice has a strong pipeline of work and a loyal client base spanning developers, investors, commercial landlords and tenants, private businesses, and high net worth individuals.
The role offers genuine autonomy, long term career progression, and the opportunity to play a key role in mentoring junior lawyers and shaping the future of the practice.
Key responsibilities:
  • Advising on a broad range of commercial property transactions, including acquisitions and disposals
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial, retail and industrial leases
  • Acting on property developments, including off the plan sales and mixed use projects
  • Managing title, leasing and due diligence issues, easements and covenants
  • Advising on property related agreements, licences and ancillary documentation
  • Managing matters end to end with direct client contact
  • Supporting and mentoring junior lawyers and paralegals
  • Contributing to client relationships and business development initiatives
About you
  • Admitted Australian lawyer with significant post admission experience in commercial property
  • Strong technical capability across leasing, development and property transactions
  • Comfortable running files autonomously and advising clients directly
  • Commercial, pragmatic and client focused in your approach
  • Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills
  • Experience within the ACT market will be highly regarded, but is not essential
  • A desire to work in a stable, relationship driven private practice environment
What’s on offer
  • High quality, consistent workflow within an established property practice
  • Competitive remuneration aligned with experience
  • Genuine work life balance and flexibility
  • Clear pathway for progression, including senior leadership opportunities
  • Collegiate, supportive culture with a strong emphasis on professionalism and long term careers
  • Opportunity to build a strong profile in the Canberra property market
