APS6 Clinical Operations Officer - Multiple Positions

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced clinician to join a well established Commonwealth mental health program supporting vulnerable individuals and their families. This is a labour hire role based in Canberra, offering meaningful clinical work within a multidisciplinary, values driven environment.

Your new role

This role sits within a national clinical operations team delivering evidence based mental health services to current and former Australian Defence Force members and their families. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will provide high quality counselling, assessment and intervention services, supporting clients with a diverse range of psychological and psychosocial needs. You will benefit from funded clinical supervision, access to ongoing professional development, and the opportunity to work within a mature, supportive clinical governance framework.

Key responsibilities:
  • Deliver high quality, trauma informed clinical services including intake, assessment, counselling, risk assessment, intervention and case management

  • Provide evidence based individual, couple and family counselling aligned with care planning outcomes

  • Maintain accurate and confidential clinical records, case notes and care plans using a client management system

  • Review client progress and determine future treatment pathways, including recommendations for extensions of care

  • Participate in clinical supervision, case reviews and multidisciplinary meetings

  • Liaise with families, external providers and key stakeholders to coordinate holistic care

  • Contribute to group programs, duty officer functions, intake and triage activities on a rotational basis

  • Ensure compliance with legislation, ethical standards, policies and clinical governance requirements


What you'll need to succeed

You are a confident and empathetic clinician with strong judgement and the ability to manage complex presentations in a fast paced environment. You bring a calm, professional approach to risk, excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to supporting veteran wellbeing.

Key capabilities include:

  • Strong experience delivering trauma informed, client centred clinical services

  • Sound assessment, formulation and risk management capability

  • High quality written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to make timely decisions and respond effectively to critical or complex situations

  • Strong IT skills and confidence working across clinical systems

    Mandatory Requirements

  • Australian Citizen, AND

  • Registered Psychologist, Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse with full AHPRA registration, OR

  • Social Worker with AASW membership, OR

  • Masters level Counselling qualification with PACFA (Registered Clinical Counsellor) or ACA Level 3 or 4 registration

    Additionally, you must hold or be willing to obtain:

  • Working with Vulnerable People registration or Working with Children Check

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance
