A global manufacturing organisation operating within the mining and heavy equipment sector is seeking a Finance Team Lead to join its Australian operations based in Brisbane. The business is overseas‑owned, forms part of a larger international group, and supports major mining operations across Australia. With a strong local footprint, stable revenue base and very low staff turnover, this organisation offers a high‑quality working environment backed by long‑tenured leadership. The hiring manager has been with the business for over 20 years, reflecting a culture focused on retention, development and long‑term careers.
Your new role
Reporting into senior finance leadership, this role sits at the intersection of financial control, cost accounting and business partnering within a manufacturing environment. You will play a key role supporting the cost side of the business while partnering closely with product development teams and regional business units.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ownership of the month‑end close
- Cost accounting across manufacturing and inventory
- COGS, margin and profitability analysis
- Financial reporting and governance
- Budgeting and forecasting using Adaptive Planning
- Business partnering with product developers and regional BU teams
- Managing and developing junior finance team members
- Driving continuous improvement across processes, controls and reporting
The finance team consists of approximately 6 team members, providing genuine leadership exposure while remaining hands‑on.
What you'll need to succeed
- CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent) is desired but also qualified by experience will be considered
- 3–5+ years’ experience in accounting or finance, ideally within manufacturing or asset‑heavy environments
- Experience with SAP and strong Excel capability
- Background in cost accounting and inventory‑driven businesses
- Demonstrated people leadership or mentoring experience
- Confident communicator, able to present to and influence stakeholders
