Your new role
This opportunity suits an experienced construction-focused Senior Project Engineer ready to step into a senior leadership role. You will lead the delivery of an approximately $15 million annual program of transport and civil infrastructure works, managing contractors, construction activities and a small internal delivery team.
This is a civil construction role with a strong on-site focus, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and supervise a small team of engineers, technical and field staff
- Manage the delivery of an annual ~$15m transport and civil infrastructure construction program
- Oversee construction works from restart through to practical completion and defects
- Act as the civil construction lead, coordinating contractors, superintendents and consultants
- Manage contracts, variations, progress claims, claims and construction risk
- Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental and quality requirements
- Proactively resolve construction issues to protect program and budget outcomes
- Provide clear reporting on progress, cost, safety and risk to senior stakeholders
What you'll need to succeed
This opportunity is likely to appeal to candidates from Tier 2 or Tier 3 civil or electrical contractors, or those currently working in infrastructure delivery or construction leadership roles.
You will have:
- Degree qualification in Engineering (Civil, Electrical or related discipline)
- Experience as a Senior Project Engineer, Construction Team Leader or Delivery Manager
- Strong background in transport and civil infrastructure construction
- Demonstrated experience managing contractors and construction delivery programs
- Proven leadership experience overseeing site‑based or delivery teams
- Strong understanding of construction risk management, WHS and quality systems
- Well-developed communication skills and stakeholder management capability
- Familiarity with Queensland construction standards and contract forms
