You’ll be joining a large, enterprise‑scale public sector organisation based in Brisbane that delivers critical digital and technology services to support the city and its community. The organisation is heavily invested in cloud modernisation and operates a mature Azure cloud environment with strong governance, security, and engineering standards.

Your new role
As a Senior Cloud Engineer (Azure), you will be part of the Cloud Enablement Team, providing senior technical leadership across the design, build, automation, and support of Azure cloud platforms. This is a hand‑on contract role where you will work closely with architects, security teams, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and cost‑optimised cloud solutions.
You’ll play a key role in cloud platform operations, automation, and continuous improvement, while also mentoring engineers and uplifting overall cloud capability across the organisation.

What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will bring:
Strong hands‑on experience with Azure IaaS and PaaS services
Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and automation using PowerShell and/or Python
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud networking, identity (Azure AD), security, monitoring, backup, and cost governance
Exposure to hybrid cloud environments, containers, and AKS
Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and lead root‑cause analysis
Excellent communication skills with experience engaging technical and non‑technical stakeholders
Relevant certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate
Terraform Associate Certification (essential)
DevOps certification (AZ‑400 preferred); ITIL Foundation desirable
