Role Overview
We are seeking a highly detail-oriented Secondary Research Analyst (Market Intelligence Officer) to support a two-month research requirement within the Division of the Academic Registrar. This role is ideal for a research professional with strong desk research capabilities who excels at working with existing data sources, identifying relevant information efficiently, and translating findings into clear, actionable outputs.
The successful candidate will support evidence-based decision-making by synthesising insights from internal and external sources and producing high-quality research and reporting outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct secondary (desk-based) research using a wide range of internal data sources, online resources, industry publications, and external databases
- Compile, review, and validate information sourced from external data platforms and repositories
- Synthesise complex information from multiple sources into clear, concise summaries and reports
- Support the development of research outputs including insight summaries and comparative market scans
- Identify trends, patterns, and key insights within existing datasets and published materials
- Ensure a high level of accuracy, consistency, and appropriate citation of all information sources
Data Analysis & Reporting
- Use Microsoft Excel to clean, organise, and analyse data, including:
- Working with large datasets
- Advanced formulas
- Pivot tables
- Basic data modelling
- Extract insights from and navigate Power BI dashboards to support reporting and evidence-based decision-making
- Develop clear, well-structured reports and presentations for stakeholders
Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in a secondary research, desk research, or insights support role
- Strong ability to locate, assess, and interpret information from diverse external sources
- Proven experience synthesising information into meaningful insights, not just summarising content
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Experience using and interpreting Power BI dashboards
- High attention to detail with strong written communication skills
- Self-directed and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Comfortable working to tight deadlines and adapting to changing research needs and priorities
