Your new role
The National Manager, Social Work Services, provides leadership, strategic advice and professional expertise on behalf of the agency to support quality services and improved outcomes for customers. The role leads the largest cohort of social workers in the Australian Public Service, supporting delivery through service centres, telephony, online channels and outreach. As a key member of Services Australia’s executive, the role provides professional and timely advice to the Minister, the Chief Executive Officer and senior executives.
Social Workers support Agency service delivery staff by providing professional advice, training, case consultation and critical incident support, as well as contributing to professional leadership in local teams. The role provides expert advice and support across the agency regarding the delivery of quality services and programs to customers in response to customer circumstances including mental health, family and domestic violence, homelessness and unsupported youth. The National Manager also represents the Agency in whole of government responses, leading social work emergency management capability during disasters and national crises.
What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in managing social work services across dispersed locations, strong community engagement capability and a demonstrated ability to deliver targeted services to priority groups. You will foster a positive work culture and support customers experiencing vulnerability across a large service delivery network.
Qualifications Required
Degree (or equivalent) in Social Work
Membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers
Working with Children or Vulnerable People Check
The role may be filled on an ongoing or non ongoing basis. A merit pool may be created for future vacancies.
Location Canberra is preferred. Melbourne, Sydney or Brisbane may be considered by exception.
