An opportunity is available for an experienced Compliance Officer to join a large, complex organisation within the higher education sector. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with industrial frameworks, enterprise agreements and employment legislation, with a strong focus on pay-related outcomes and risk mitigation.
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Compliance, you will provide technical advice, support compliance monitoring activities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across industrial relations and compliance practices.
Your new role
In this role, you will:
Provide specialist advice on compliance matters, including pay entitlements and enterprise agreement interpretation
Support investigations into compliance issues, documenting findings and contributing to resolution strategies
Identify and escalate potential underpayment, legal or reputational risks to key stakeholders
Monitor compliance activities and maintain accurate records and tracking systems
Respond to stakeholder queries and assist in developing educational materials to build compliance awareness
Support the review and implementation of compliance policies and procedures
Contribute to data collection, reporting and dashboard preparation
Collaborate closely with Compliance Advisors, Analysts and broader HR and case management teams.
Assist with small projects and continuous improvement initiatives aligned to compliance strategy
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you will bring:
Demonstrated experience in compliance, industrial relations or employee relations within a complex organisation
Experience providing advice on compliance matters and supporting investigations or assessments
Strong understanding of industrial instruments, compliance and regulatory frameworks
Proven ability to assess risk, exercise sound judgement and manage sensitive matters with discretion
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
Strong analytical capability, including experience working with data and reporting
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel
Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of training and experience
