A large organisation undergoing a significant cybersecurity uplift is seeking a Technical Lead – Cyber Defence Specialist. The environment includes both corporate IT and operational technology, with multiple streams of work focused on strengthening security operations, enhancing monitoring capability and improving overall cyber resilience. You will be joining a highly collaborative, delivery‑focused digital and security function that is investing heavily in uplift and modernisation initiatives.

Your new role

In this role, you will provide deep, hands‑on technical expertise to support key cybersecurity projects. You will lead technical design, implementation and optimisation activities across SOC capability uplift, detection engineering, vulnerability management and incident response.

You will work closely with program leadership, architects, engineers and vendors to ensure solutions are secure, scalable and aligned with enterprise security strategies and industry frameworks. Responsibilities include technical documentation, risk assessment, onboarding of new systems into the SOC, and supporting both IT and OT security uplift activities.

What you'll need to succeed

• Strong technical background in cyber defence, SOC operations and SIEM enhancement
• Experience with detection engineering, logging standards, use case development and alert tuning
• Capability across threat hunting, threat modelling and analysis
• Hands‑on experience with vulnerability management, particularly in environments with OT assets
• Ability to design and implement cybersecurity solutions across diverse systems
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with stakeholders, vendors and delivery partners
• Relevant qualifications and senior cyber certifications
• Experience delivering within structured project frameworks
