Operations Officer – Water job in Melbourne with a statutory authority

Your new company

A statutory authority responsible for protecting the environment. You’ll work in the Science Division based in Melbourne.


Your new role

Reporting to the manager, you’ll assist with:
  • Marine and freshwater fieldwork – possibly including from a boat, along the water’s edge in bays and along creeks/rivers, etc.
  • Sample collection – e.g. water and sediment
  • Laboratory work – e.g. sample prep and storage, analysis
  • Data management – including data analysis, QA/QC

What you'll need to succeed

  • A tertiary degree and/or postgraduate qualification in a relevant scientific discipline, such as Freshwater Science, Marine Science, Environmental Science, Microbiology, or Ecotoxicology is desirable.
  • Experience in delivery of water monitoring operations in accordance with a Quality Management System.
  • Experience in the use of data acquisition systems to remotely access and diagnose technical faults.
