Data Analyst – 12‑Month Contract – Perth

This confidential government agency is responsible for statewide planning, asset management, and investment decisions supporting schools and educational infrastructure. You will be part of a highly skilled team committed to improving the quality, reliability, and governance of critical data used for planning, reporting, and operational decision‑making.

Your new role

As a Data Analyst, you will work directly with business stakeholders across the Infrastructure Division to progress several high‑priority information initiatives. You will source, validate, clean, transform, and prepare data from a range of asset, audit, maintenance, and school-level systems. This role involves both hands‑on analytical work and the development of structured, repeatable data processes that support reporting, analysis, and system integration.
You will deliver multiple long-term projects over the 12‑month engagement, ensuring timely, high‑quality outputs that support decision‑making, compliance, financial reconciliation, and long-term asset planning.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful, you will demonstrate:
Required Skills & Experience
Large Data Handling & Analysis Experience working with complex, multi-source datasets (1M+ records), ideally within infrastructure, government, audit, capital planning, or compliance environments.
Data Cleaning, Normalisation & Preparation Strong capability in transforming unstructured datasets into validated, structured formats suitable for reporting, modelling, and system ingestion.
Secure Environment, Governance & Data Stewardship Experience working in secure environments with a strong understanding of governance, privacy, data controls, and repeatable, auditable data processes.
Technical Proficiency (Essential)
  • Advanced Excel capability (complex formulas, large‑scale reconciliation, audit tracing).
  • Power Query, Power BI (data transformation, modelling, reporting).
  • MS Access and experience building lightweight registers/databases.
  • SQL Server or equivalent query tools for structured querying.
  • Experience with structured data models across multiple systems.
Automation & Tools Development Ability to automate workflows, build data registers, and develop repeatable, documented analytical tools that support operational continuity.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication Ability to translate complex data issues into clear insights for non‑technical audiences, support capability uplift, and collaborate on solution design.
