About the Role
Lead the technical delivery of a major cloud‑based finance system upgrade, guiding development, integration, and solution design while partnering with technical and non‑technical stakeholders to ensure a successful transition by September 2026.
Your New Company
You will be joining a government organisation undertaking a significant multi‑year transformation to modernise its core finance systems.
The team is progressing into Phase 2 of the program—transitioning to a modern cloud finance platform and strengthening integration with a business‑critical system.
The project has strong continuity, with the current Project Manager, Senior Developer and Project Board remaining in place to maintain momentum and stability.
Phase 2 is scheduled for completion by 7 September 2026.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the technical scope, identifying risks early, and working closely with the Project Manager to keep delivery on track.
Acting as the bridge between technical teams and non‑technical stakeholders, translating business needs into clear technical requirements.
Maintaining coding standards, overseeing automated testing processes, and participating in security reviews.
Identifying and resolving technical roadblocks, developing workarounds when needed, and tackling complex technical issues.
Leading technical milestones from planning through deployment, ensuring risks are managed and outcomes are delivered on time and to a high standard.
Ensuring all solutions align with established architectural principles and guidelines.
Working with a broad range of stakeholders on application design and integration and supporting change by understanding their needs.
Overseeing the operational handover of integration components to ensure they are well‑maintained and supported into business‑as‑usual operations.
What You Will Need to Succeed:
Experience leading teams across system design, application development, data modelling, and solution delivery.
Strong capability in managing testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and issue resolution in complex environments.
Proven ability to provide technical and design leadership, analyse complex issues, and produce timely, innovative, and cost‑effective technical solutions.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for varied audiences, influence decision‑making, and negotiate effectively.
Other expectations:
Active participation in planning activities and commitment to corporate responsibilities.
Ability to model values of respect, quality, and accountability.
Strong governance and risk‑management discipline.
Commitment to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and well‑supported workplace.
Mandatory requirements:
Degree in software engineering, information technology, or a relevant discipline.
Willingness to undergo a criminal history check.
Ability to disclose relevant conflicts of interest prior to commencement.
What You Will Get in Return:
Opportunity to lead the technical direction of a major cloud finance system modernisation.
A stable and supportive project environment with continuity across key leadership roles.
Work that directly enables organisational modernisation, improved system capability, and long‑term digital uplift.
A role that offers professional growth across solution design, integration, cloud platforms, and governance.
Contract engagement through to 30 June 2026, with potential for extension based on project needs.
Experience contributing to a high‑visibility, strategically important transformation initiative.
