Capital Works Project Officer

Manage end‑to‑end civil works delivering community‑focused infrastructure. 3-month contract, view to extend

Your new local council
You’ll be responsible for the procurement, scheduling, delivery and contract management of civil capital works projects including roads, drainage and streetscape infrastructure. Working closely with contractors, engineering teams and internal stakeholders, you’ll ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

This role offers a mix of site and office work, a strong team culture, and support from an experienced Coordinator.

Your new role

  • Deliver end‑to‑end capital works projects in line with legislation, policies and safety standards.
  • Oversee contract documentation, contractor performance and compliance activities.
  • Monitor budgets, prepare financial and progress reports, and manage variations.
  • Review engineering drawings, permits and technical documentation.
  • Conduct site inspections and quality compliance audits.
  • Build strong relationships with contractors, internal teams and community stakeholders.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture across all work.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering (or substantial relevant experience).
  • Strong background in civil construction, capital works or infrastructure delivery.
  • Proven experience in project management, contract administration and contractor supervision.
  • Solid understanding of OH&S, traffic management and civil construction standards.
  • Ability to interpret engineering plans and deliver projects to specification.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for reports, contract documentation and stakeholder engagement.
  • Current Victorian Driving Licence and White/Red Card.
