Fleurieu Regional Waste Authority (FRWA) is a leader in waste management, servicing the Alexandrina, Victor Harbour, Yankalilla and Kangaroo Island Councils. Your New Role
Reporting to the CEO and leading a team of five, you will oversee all business support functions, including finance, governance, customer service, administration and HR coordination.
You will play a pivotal role in strengthening systems, delivering high-quality financial reporting, and fostering a connected and high-performing team culture.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring a finance and administration team
- Managing budgeting, forecasting, cashflow and end-to-end reporting
- Coordinating financial reporting across multiple council stakeholders
- Overseeing AP/AR, payroll and compliance requirements
- Supporting system and process improvements, including finance system upgrades
- Maintaining governance frameworks, policies and procedures
- Overseeing customer service and office operations
- Providing commercial insights to support cost efficiencies and revenue opportunities
- Building strong relationships across operations, HR/WHS, risk and leadership
What You’ll Need to Succeed
You are a practical, people-focused leader who balances strong technical capability with a supportive and collaborative approach.
You will bring:
- Experience leading finance or business support teams (ideally 5+ staff)
- Strong financial management expertise (budgeting, forecasting, reporting)
- High attention to detail and ability to manage complex financial structures
- Confidence preparing reports for diverse stakeholders
- Strong systems capabilities and experience with system implementations is advantageous.
- Commercial mindset with a focus on efficiency and improvement
- Excellent communication and team leadership skills
- CPA/CA/IPA (or working towards)
Desirable:
- Local government or council-related experience
- Exposure to logistics, waste, or not-for-profit sectors

Please note: This role is based in the Victor Harbour region and is best suited to candidates able to commute (approx. 50 minutes from southern metro Adelaide).
