System Operations Manager

Your new role

As the System Operations Manager, you will be accountable for the real-time operational control, security and resilience of the electricity network. You will lead a critical function responsible for system security, operational risk, emergency response and the safe integration of new assets and schemes into live service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic leadership and governance of system operations.
  • Acting as the operational authority for commissioning, energisation and acceptance of new and modified assets.
  • Leading operational readiness, real‑time control and emergency incident response for major network events.
  • Overseeing the performance, uplift and operational strategy of SCADA, ADMS and related control systems.
  • Ensuring data quality, operational suitability and system integrity across network operational datasets.
  • Building and developing a high‑performing operational workforce and managing future capability needs.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Senior experience in real-time electricity network operations, including system security and emergency response.
  • Strong technical understanding of network infrastructure, protection, control and field operations.
  • Proven authority in commissioning, asset acceptance and integration of complex network systems.
  • Experience with SCADA, ADMS or equivalent control platforms and operational data requirements.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including workforce development, succession planning and operational culture uplift.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement and decision‑making skills in high‑risk, regulated environments.
  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline (desirable).
