A state government organisation is seeking an experienced and motivated Environmental Advisor (Project Delivery) to play a key role in protecting Victoria’s natural landscapes and public health. This position supports core environment‑protection functions by ensuring high‑performing practices are in place to meet statutory obligations, prevent pollution and waste impacts, and safeguard community wellbeing.
Your new role
The Environmental Advisor (Project Delivery) contributes to environmental protection by:
Developing and implementing environmental programs and initiatives
Providing expert advice to managers and staff across the organisation
Managing and investigating environmental and public‑health incidents
Liaising with regulators and key stakeholders
The purpose of this position is to lead the planning and delivery of two key environmental projects. The role will be responsible for:
Responding to a regulatory environmental action notice within required timelines, involving waste removal in a complex and sensitive environment
Delivering a program of works focused on identifying and assessing asbestos conditions in built assets
What you'll need to succeed
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or Engineering
- Demonstrated project‑management experience and environmental knowledge related to pollution, wastewater or contaminated land
- Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills, with the ability to provide constructive advice
- Sound understanding of Victorian environmental protection legislation
- Proven ability to engage and liaise with regulators, consultants, contractors and project working groups
