A well-known statutory authority is seeking an Environmental Advisor for a temporary assignment. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to meaningful environmental and climate adaptation initiatives.
Your new role
Reporting directly to the Manager Environment and Climate Adaptation, you will:
- Coordinate obligations under the Safe Drinking Water Act 2003 and Regulations 2025.
- Manage, implement and continuously improve the organisation’s Environmental Management System (EMS) consistent with ISO14001 standards and emerging practices in the environment and climate change.
- Support achievement of EMS objectives and targets across the organisation.
- Integrate strategic work into the Corporate Strategy and Plan.
- Provide timely environmental and statutory advice for strategic, project-based and incident management needs.
- Develop and implement climate change mitigation strategies to achieve emissions reduction targets in line with the Statement of Obligations.
- Deliver climate adaptation planning, including governance, risk management and technical input.
- Advise and audit capital projects in line with legislation, EMS requirements and relevant strategies.
What you'll need to succeed
- Degree qualifications in environmental sciences, climate change sciences, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating obligations under the Safe Drinking Water Act 2003 and Regulations 2025.
- Proven ability to manage, implement and improve EMS frameworks aligned with ISO14001.
- Experience managing water quality monitoring programs, including BGA, nutrients and recycled water.
- Strong capability in providing environmental advice and auditing services for capital projects in line with legislation and organisational strategies.
