Your new company
Large Federal Government Department responsible for managing Australia’s international presence, ie delivery of secure, sustainable, and fit-for-purpose overseas property assets. The Division oversees the planning, design, construction and maintenance of the department's global estate. They are seeking an experienced EL2 Senior Project Manager to join the division on a multi-year labour hire contract.
Your new role
This senior leadership role offers the change to shape infrastructure that underpins Australia’s operations, working across diverse international environments and engaging with senior stakeholders at the highest levels.
- Lead the design and delivery of complex overseas property projects
- Provide senior-level oversight across all project phases – feasibility, design, construction, commissioning, and handover.
- Manage multidisciplinary teams and external consultants, fostering collaboration and accountability.
- Oversee procurement and contract management in line with Commonwealth frameworks.
- Monitor project performance across scope, schedule, budget, and risk, implementing corrective actions where required.
- Engage with department executives, government agencies, host governments, and international partners to ensure project success.
- Deliver high-level reporting, briefings, and strategic advice to leadership.
- Ensure projects meet stringent security, environmental, and operational requirements.
- Mentor and guide EL1 and APS-level staff, building capability and a high-performing project culture.
What you'll need to succeed
You will be a seasoned and strategic leader with;
- Extensive experience delivering complex property or infrastructure projects, ideally in an international or government context.
- Advanced project management expertise and the ability to lead in high-pressure environments.
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with proven ability to navigate cross-cultural and regulatory complexities.
- Strong strategic planning, risk management, and governance capabilities.
- A deep understanding of Commonwealth procurement and financial frameworks.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in project management, construction, engineering, or a related field (highly desirable).
- A current NV1 security clearance (mandatory).
