Senior Procurement Officer (Capital)

12-month temporary Senior Procurement Officer (Capital) opportunity within state government.

Our client is looking for an experienced Senior Procurement Officer to join their team on a 12-month temporary contract.

Your new role

  • Provides expert advice on capital-funded procurement, including contract development, governance, compliance, and achieving value-for-money outcomes.

  • Develops procurement and tender documents in consultation with stakeholders, ensuring clear scopes, specifications, and alignment with project requirements.

  • Assists in creating and implementing procurement and contract management policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.

  • Manages and participates in tender evaluations, prepares evaluation reports, and ensures transparency and accountability in procurement decisions.

  • Oversees procurement activities, liaises with internal teams e.g. Capital Works, Contract Superintendents, and ensures use of approved procurement channels like Tenders WA.

  • Supports contract administration including variations, renewals, performance monitoring, dispute resolution, and ensuring adherence to contract terms.

  • Promotes continuous improvement by embedding policy updates and supporting new initiatives, while ensuring alignment with government and public sector requirements.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and implementing compliant government procurement processes for works projects, with a strong understanding of the full procurement and contract lifecycle, including the application of Department of Finance guidelines, Western Australian Procurement Rules, and Australian Standard Works contracts

  • The ability to align work with strategic objectives by analysing information from diverse sources, understanding broader trends, and making informed decisions within established guidelines.

  • Skilled in managing resources effectively, adapting to changing priorities, and maintaining a focus on quality and timely completion of tasks and projects.

  • Builds strong relationships with stakeholders and colleagues, values diversity, communicates effectively, and delivers high-quality, customer-focused services through collaboration and information sharing.

  • Demonstrates integrity, accountability, and self-awareness; takes initiative and responsibility for outcomes; and communicates with confidence and influence, including in negotiations and written correspondence.
