A specialist data platforms squad embedded in a major financial services group, located in Sydney CBD. You will join a compact delivery team that sits inside a larger enterprise data engineering organisation.

Your new role

Contract Senior Data Engineer contributing to the build-out of a new AWS analytics platform. You will design, implement and operate cloud-native data pipelines and data products that feed analytics and decisioning services. Daily collaboration with five data engineers, two business analysts and a product owner will guide incremental delivery and roadmap priorities. You will help convert an existing MVP into production-ready solutions, applying solid engineering patterns and automated practices.

What you'll need to succeed

Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience in senior data engineering roles working with AWS data services. Strong, production-proven skills in Python and PySpark plus advanced SQL, with familiarity across SQL and NoSQL models. Practical experience with Redshift, Glue, S3, EventBridge, Step Functions, Lake Formation and SageMaker. A solid grasp of data lake and warehouse concepts, columnar file formats (for example, Parquet or Iceberg) and event-driven patterns. Track record of delivering secure, tested ingestion and transformation solutions and working in small cross-functional teams. Background in financial services or similar regulated environments is highly desirable.
