We are partnered with this State Government organisation in Brisbane CBD to recruit a Principal Policy Officer for a fixed-term contract until October 2026.
Your new role
As the Principal Policy Officer, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of integrated policies, legislation, and programs that support strategic objectives. In this temporary role, you will:
Assist with the identification, development and implementation of integrated strategies, policies, legislation and programs that reflect diverse stakeholder perspectives.
Undertake complex policy analysis and provide strategic advice to support planning, reporting and governance priorities.
Prepare high-quality, well-researched submissions, briefs and reports on emerging and complex issues.
Represent the team in meetings and forums, contributing to cross-agency collaboration and stakeholder engagement.
Provide confidential secretariat support for governance boards and committees, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
What you'll need to succeed
To excel in this position, you should have:
Strong understanding of and experience in government policy and strategic development, including the ability to analyse complex issues and apply sound judgement in ambiguous environments.
Demonstrated ability to deliver clear, evidence-based advice supported by diverse viewpoints, including customer and stakeholder perspectives.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare high-quality documentation and engage effectively with senior stakeholders.
Proven ability to manage competing priorities, deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes, and contribute to a positive team culture.
A qualification in public policy, law or a related discipline will be highly regarded, along with experience in Cabinet and Parliamentary processes or legislation review.
