The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for the oversight and management of the Department’s general ledger, ensuring accurate accounting, reporting, and compliance with relevant financial frameworks. This role plays a pivotal part in maintaining financial integrity, transparency, and accountability across the Department. This temporary contract will be paying $74.25 per hour + super and the dates of the contract will be the 13th of October - 24th December.
Your new role
- Lead the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and processes related to accruals, classifications, disclosures, and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with Treasurer’s Instructions, Treasurer’s Guidelines, Australian Accounting Standards (AAS), and other applicable legislation and regulations.
- Prepare and coordinate the Department’s annual financial statements and accompanying notes.
- Provide expert advice on complex accounting and taxation matters, including interpretation of Australian taxation laws.
- Conduct financial analysis and reporting to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective financial governance and reporting.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the finance function.
- Mentor and guide junior finance staff, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
