Your New Role
As an Azure Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines and solutions on the Azure platform. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data is accessible, secure, and optimised for analytics and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Apache Spark Pool, and other Azure services.
Implementing reusable and modular data transformation logic to support multiple semantic models and reporting layers, including Power BI.
Managing all aspects of data integration: ingestion, transformation, validation, and orchestration across ERP (SAP), SaaS, and custom applications.
Analysing functional and non-functional requirements to assess data architecture, performance, and scalability.
Coordinating development and deployment activities with analysts, subject-matter experts, and external vendors.
Monitoring data pipeline health, performance metrics, and proactively addressing issues and anomalies.
Documenting and communicating engineering outcomes, including data lineage, transformation logic, known limitations, and improvement opportunities.
Leading the transition of Power BI assets to Microsoft Fabric, including assessment of existing architecture, migration strategy, and alignment with future-state data platform goals.
Identifying high-value use cases for data reuse, automation, and optimisation, particularly for reporting and analytics.
What You'll Need to Succeed
At least 5 years’ experience in data engineering, with a strong background in designing and delivering scalable data solutions, preferably within cloud environments such as Microsoft Azure.
Demonstrated experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Apache Spark Pool, and Power BI.
Experience in Python is essential
Experience in planning and executing the transition of Power BI assets to Microsoft Fabric.
Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, and compliance standards.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
