Your new role
As a Development Assessment Engineering Officer, you will play a key role in assessing development applications with a focus on drainage and flooding. You’ll liaise with internal and external stakeholders, provide technical advice, and ensure compliance with relevant planning instruments and engineering standards.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Assess development application referrals related to drainage and flooding
  • Provide administrative support to the Drainage Development Assessment team
  • Liaise with developers, consultants, and internal departments to resolve issues and negotiate outcomes.
  • Monitor and record incoming development application referrals
  • Maintain accurate records using TechnologyOne, CM9, and GIS systems
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of engineering specifications and processes
  • Ensure all tasks are completed within required timeframes and service level agreements

What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering
  • Previous experience assessing development applications in a local government setting
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to resolve conflict and negotiate effectively
  • A commitment to customer service and teamwork
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience using TechnologyOne, CM9, and GIS systems
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high workloads
Desirable:
  • Experience using the NSW Government Planning Portal
  • Knowledge of Council’s DCP and the Local Government Act
