Our client is a well-established Australian organisation currently embarking on a large-scale, long-term transformation program. As part of this journey, they are seeking a Cyber Security Architect to join their team on an initial 6-month contract, with strong potential for extension. This is a critical role at the early stages of the program, offering the opportunity to influence key technology decisions and uplift enterprise security capabilities.
Your new role
As the Cyber Security Architect, you will play a key role in embedding security into the early stages of a two-year transformation program. You’ll work closely with enterprise architects, IT project teams, and business stakeholders to ensure security is a foundational element of all technology decisions. Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing secure cloud architectures aligned with business needs and industry best practices.
- Validating and advising on security solutions, including recommendations from external consultants.
- Conducting cyber-focused options analysis and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture.
- Developing cyber security frameworks, architecture artefacts, and technical documentation.
- Promoting cyber awareness and influencing adoption of security frameworks across the organisation.
This is a highly collaborative role requiring strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate complex security concepts into practical business outcomes.
What you'll need to succeed
To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:
- 5+ years’ experience in a cyber security architect or enterprise architect role with a strong cyber lens.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and/or industry certifications such as CISSP, CISA, SABSA, TOGAF, or cloud security credentials.
- Deep understanding of cloud technologies (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) and platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, and M365.
- Experience integrating security controls into IT projects and transformation programs.
- Familiarity with identity and access management, zero trust principles, and CASB solutions.
- A proactive, team-oriented mindset with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
