We are looking for multiple detail-oriented and proactive Technical Assessment Officers to support the administration of Australia’s national framework for appliance and equipment energy efficiency. This role contributes to the effective implementation of the legislative framework, which promotes the use of energy-efficient products to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support Australia's transition to Net Zero.

Your new role

As a Technical Assessment Officer, you will assess product registration applications to ensure they meet legislative, technical, and policy requirements. You’ll play a key role in maintaining the integrity of the program and supporting continuous improvement in registration systems and processes.

What you'll need to succeed

To excel in this role, you will:
  • Assess applications, renewals, and change requests for regulated products under the GEMS Act
  • Ensure applications are processed within agreed timeframes and service standards
  • Provide technical information to support responses to internal and external stakeholder enquiries
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of assessment and training materials
  • Support system enhancements, process improvements, and other team initiatives
You will have:
  • Experience in application processing or assessments, ideally in a regulatory or compliance environment
  • Familiarity with databases or digital systems for managing workflows and data
  • Interest in or understanding of energy policy
Skills and Capabilities:
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
  • Sound judgement and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Qualifications in public administration, engineering, energy, or a related field are advantageous

This role is only open to Australian citizens, and you must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Government Security Clearance (baseline, NV1 or NV2).
