We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Manager of Financial Modelling to lead the development of complex financial models that inform critical policy, investment, and operational decisions. This is a pivotal role that supports executive leadership, Treasury submissions, and long-term financial planning.
This is a temporary 3-month contract that has the possibility of getting extension, and the potential for a fixed-term contract.
Your new role
- Lead the design, development, and maintenance of sophisticated financial models to support strategic planning, cost-benefit analysis, and scenario forecasting.
- Provide expert advice on financial implications of policy proposals, capital investments, and operational initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to translate business needs into robust financial models and insights.
- Prepare high-quality reports, business cases, and presentations for senior executives, Treasury, and Ministerial briefings.
- Ensure models comply with relevant accounting standards, government financial frameworks, and audit requirements.
- Mentor and develop a small team of analysts and modellers.
- Drive continuous improvement in modelling practices, tools, and data governance.
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience in financial modelling, forecasting, and analysis within a complex organisation (public sector experience highly regarded).
- Strong understanding of government budgeting processes, cost recovery frameworks, and economic evaluation techniques.
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling software skills (e.g., Modano, Power BI, SQL).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- Demonstrated leadership and team development capabilities.
- High attention to detail, critical thinking, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
