Your new role
Based in the Launceston CBD, MAIB is an organisation that focusses on supporting Tasmanians through some of the most challenging times in their lives. As the Executive Officer, you will play a key role in providing high-level administrative support to the Manager of Corporate, Assurance and Risk, and the broader team, by delivering high-quality governance, compliance, and administrative support across a diverse range of functions. This role is guided by the MAIB’s values of Connection, Compassion, and Commitment.
You will be responsible for a broad portfolio of responsibilities that contribute to the effective governance and strategic operations of the organisation. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Administering MAIB’s compliance requirements under the Government Business Enterprises Act 1995, including coordination of the Corporate Plan and Annual Report;
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of governance issues and legislative changes, ensuring best practice approaches are adopted;
- Support the Manager – Corporate, Assurance and Risk in managing compliance with the Risk Management Plan, WHS, and HR requirements, including analysis and research;
- Foster a balanced risk management culture and maintain documentation of the risk framework and register, including reporting;
- Assist in the legislative and regulatory amendment process;
- Draft correspondence and documentation including Ministerial letters, Cabinet submissions, and Question Time Briefs.
What you'll need to succeed
You’ll have demonstrated experience as an Executive Officer or similar, along with:
- Experience in governance, compliance, or administrative support roles;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft high-quality documentation;
- Strong analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities;
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving;
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively across teams;
- Proactive nature, with the ability to be a self-starter and set a daily agenda.
