Hays Recruitment is pleased to support the recruitment of a highly motivated Business Support Officer to work within the Queensland Government in Rockhampton.
Your new role
- Coordinate travel arrangements including flights, accommodation, charters, ferries, and vehicle hire, ensuring bookings are completed within the required timeframes.
- Manage internal and external communications, including phone calls and correspondence, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.
- Thrive in a dynamic, high-paced environment with performance monitored through KPIs and measurable outcomes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with industry partners, local vendors, and stakeholders to support efficient service delivery.
- Maintain a professional demeanour and contribute positively to a collaborative and supportive team culture while managing routine tasks.
- Prioritise customer satisfaction by delivering solutions that align with both client expectations and business goals.
- Ensure accuracy and attention to detail when preparing documents, reports, and updating systems such as Ellipse and Microsoft Office.
- Use initiative to manage enquiries in the absence of senior staff, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
- Create and maintain procedures, manuals, and registers, while actively contributing to the enhancement of existing processes.
- Provide general administrative support as required, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
What you'll need to succeed
Sound typing skills with good accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills, including the ability to interact with executive-level staff, including Directors
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
Capability to handle repetitive tasks
Previous government experience is essential
What you'll get in return
In return, you will be offered a casual contract working full-time hours Monday to Friday. This role is based in Rockhampton, offering $49.40 per hour plus superannuation, with weekly pay! This position has the potential to become ongoing or permanent for the right candidate.
