Our client, a well-known financial services corporation, is looking for a Financial Control Accountant to join one of their transformation teams. This role requires you to be immediately available to start ASAP.
The office is based in Sydney CBD and offers hybrid working.Your new role
• Ensure general ledger integrity through effective reconciliations, issue investigation, and collaboration with data owners.
• Support financial and regulatory reporting by maintaining robust reconciliation processes aligned with statutory obligations.
• Uphold governance and compliance by adhering to policies, procedures, and control requirements across all finance activities.
• Collaborate with finance systems teams to define accounting data needs and test changes to ledger and reconciliation systems.
• Provide support to various finance teams including Tax, Advisory, Systems, and Reporting as needed.
• Maintain strong relationships with offshore partners to ensure quality service delivery and address any service gaps.
• Contribute to risk management by supporting compliance initiatives, identifying risk events, and developing action plans.
• Drive continuous improvement by simplifying and standardising reconciliation processes to enhance efficiency.
• Explore automation and digitalisation opportunities to reduce risk, lower resource costs, and eliminate manual workarounds.
What you'll need to succeed
• Holds a degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related field (mandatory).
• Fully qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) or Certified Practising Accountant (CPA) (mandatory), or equivalent.
• Brings 3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally within the financial services sector.
• Strong understanding of reconciliation processes and financial controls.
• Proven ability to build and maintain trusted, respectful relationships.
• Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
• Skilled in managing competing priorities and meeting deadlines.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies is desirable.
• Demonstrates adaptability, a willingness to learn, and a proactive mindset.
