The Systems Accountant plays a pivotal role in the strategic and operational management of financial systems across the department. This position ensures the integrity, performance, and continuous improvement of financial systems, provides technical and business process support to users, and contributes to system upgrades, reporting, and compliance. The role is essential in aligning financial systems with departmental goals and legislative requirements.
Your new role
- Respond to service requests related to financial system and report development.
- Assist in the design, testing, and implementation of system enhancements and upgrades.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for the Financial Management Information System (FMIS).
- Participate in data validation, reconciliation, and financial reporting activities.
- Contribute to the planning and delivery of financial systems projects and initiatives.
- Monitor FMIS database security and uphold data governance standards.
- Ensure system developments and configurations align with audit and compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain system documentation, including process flows, configuration records, and user manuals.
- Support the delivery of financial systems training and provide ongoing user assistance.

What you'll need to succeed
Essentials:
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Information Systems.
- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems.
- Strong understanding of ERP modules: GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Procurement, Budgeting, Banking.
- Experience in system implementation, configuration, and testing.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Desirable:
- Technical skills in SQL, Power BI, BI Desktop, Data Warehousing.
- Familiarity with reporting tools such as Hyperion or Quick Clicks.
- Understanding of the System Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Experience in stakeholder engagement, including requirements gathering and business case development.
- Knowledge of cloud-based ERP environments.
