Senior Project Officer (Grants)

Lead grant closures & compliance for a major NFP. 9-month contract. $110–130K. Darwin-based role.

Location: Darwin City, NT

Salary Range: $110,000 – $130,000 PA + Superannuation

Contract Type: Fixed Term for 9 months (Commencing September 2025)

Work Type: Full-time

Travel: May include travel to regional and remote locations


A respected not-for-profit organisation is seeking a highly organised and experienced Senior Project Officer to lead the final phase of a legacy grants program. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful outcomes for Aboriginal communities across the Northern Territory.

Your new company

This role will oversee the closure and acquittal of a significant grant program, ensuring compliance, accurate reporting, and strong stakeholder engagement. You’ll manage project variations, support applicants through final reporting, and progress debt recovery where required. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams to ensure a smooth handover and maintain high standards of probity and documentation.

Your new role

  • Develop and deliver a project plan to complete the program within the fixed term
  • Manage grant acquittals, variations, and compliance processes
  • Triage projects to identify risks and resolve outstanding issues
  • Maintain accurate records using grants management systems
  • Collaborate with internal teams and engage respectfully with Aboriginal organisations
  • Provide regular reporting and contribute to lessons for future programs

What you'll need to succeed

  • You’ll bring strong project management skills, experience in grants or contract administration, and a commitment to culturally respectful engagement.
  • Confident in navigating compliance frameworks, managing competing priorities, and supporting financial and reporting processes.
  • Experience in grants or contract management, including acquittals and compliance
  • Proven ability to manage project plans, risks, and deliverables
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • High-level communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal communities in the NT
  • Experience with grants systems such as SmartyGrants
  • Must be able to pass a National Criminal History Check
