Our client is a national mid-tier law firm with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Chatswood, and Parramatta. They have over 200 lawyers nationally and are currently going through a major re-brand. They are looking to grow in multiple teams across the firm, including in their Employment team. Their dedicated Employment team, made up of 5 lawyers (1 Partner, 3 Associates, 1 Paralegal) provides strategic advice and hands-on support to both employers and employees, helping organisations build compliant, productive and harmonious workplaces.
The opportunity
We are seeking an Employment Lawyer with a minimum of 3 years’ post-admission experience to join a high-performing team based in their Sydney office. You’ll partner with senior practitioners to manage a varied caseload spanning both contentious and non-contentious matters, contribute to practice innovation, and help clients navigate the full spectrum of workplace law.

- Collective bargaining, enterprise agreements & awards
- Payroll compliance reviews & risk mitigation
- Tailored workplace training programs
- Bullying, harassment & discrimination investigations
- Work health & safety advisory & compliance
- HR policy development & procedural drafting
- Workplace investigations & dispute resolution
- Employment contract drafting, review & interpretation
Key responsibilities
Provide clear, practical advice on employment contracts, policies and workplace procedures
Conduct and oversee workplace investigations, advising on grievances, disciplinary actions and terminations
Manage industrial relations issues, including negotiations and compliance under the Fair Work Act and related legislation
Draft legal documents such as applications, affidavits, witness statements and pleadings for tribunal and court matters
Represent clients in unfair dismissal, general protections, restraint and breach-of-contract disputes
Identify emerging employment law risks and develop strategies to mitigate exposure
Mentor junior lawyers and support continuous improvement in service delivery
What we're looking for
At least 3 years’ PQE in employment law, with experience advising both employer and employee clients
Strong working knowledge of federal and state employment, anti-discrimination and work health & safety legislation
Excellent research, analytical and drafting skills, with an ability to distil complex issues into actionable guidance
Proven ability to manage client relationships and deliver high-quality work autonomously
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with a solutions-oriented mindset
Prior experience supervising or mentoring junior team members is highly desirable
